LOYOLA COLLEGE COMBINES JESUIT IDEALS OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL SERVICE.
Founded in 1852, Loyola College in Maryland is a Jesuit university committed to the educational and spiritual traditions of the Society of Jesus-traditions, which emphasize development of the whole person. Accordingly, the college strives to inspire students to learn, lead and serve in a diverse and changing world-to become "men and women for others." Affiliated with the Catholic Church, the college welcomes students of all religious backgrounds. Loyola's more than 6,100 undergraduate and graduate students benefit from exposure to a rigorous curriculum and high faculty expectations. All undergraduate students complete a core curriculum that includes courses in English, philosophy, theology, ethics, history, fine arts, foreign language, mathematics, sciences and social sciences in addition to specific coursework in one of more than 35 majors. Graduate students pursue advanced degrees in business, education, speech-language pathology, pastoral counseling, computing/software engineering, liberal studies and psychology. All students are challenged to understand the ethical dimensions of personal and professional life and to examine their own values, attitudes and ideals. Located in a thriving neighborhood in North Baltimore, Loyola enjoys close proximity to the city's cultural and entertainment opportunities. The college's strong relationships with area businesses provide its students with many opportunities for internships as well as access to a growing metropolitan job market.
