RANKED AMONG THE NATION’S TOP COLLEGES OF ART AND DESIGN, MICA ENROLLS 1,850 STUDENTS FROM 47 STATES AND 46 FOREIGN COUNTRIES IN ITS UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE PROGRAMS.
MICA offers an outstanding studio curriculum balanced by challenging course work in the liberal arts. Fifteen undergraduate majors in art history, fine arts, interdisciplinary fine arts, video, photography,graphic design, environmental design, illustration, and animation lead to the bachelor of fine arts degree. MICA also grants master of arts degrees in teaching, art education, community arts and digital arts; master of fine arts degrees in fine art and graphic design; and a post-baccalaureate certificate in fine art. Study abroad opportunities are available in 17 foreign countries. Faculty includes internationally recognized artists, high-profile designers and widely published scholars with terminal degrees from such institutions as Harvard, Princeton, UCLA and Yale. The college is important as both a cultural and an educational resource: Its residential campus, located in the heart of Baltimore’s cultural district, hosts a stellar range of exhibitions, artist talks, performances and films. Students develop professional skills through the Joseph Meyerhoff Center for Career Development, firsthand experience in the college’s nationally recognized community-based arts program,internships around the world, and a variety of programs for campus leadership and involvement. MICA alumni go on to top graduate programs, prestigious residencies and fellowships, and impressive careers in art, design and education. Many find great success as professional artists exhibiting their work in museums and galleries around the world.
