THE PEABODY INSTITUTE HAS ALWAYS SHOWCASED THE TALENTS OF SOME OF THE GREATEST ARTISTS IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD.
Igor Stravinsky and Ralph Waldo Emerson both lectured here. Composers, conductors and instrumentalists from Tchaikovsky to Bernstein and beyond have visited, taught and performed. But the most inspiring talents of all are the students who grace the Peabody Institute's campus and concert halls every day.
Located in the historic and cultural heart of Baltimore, the Peabody is one of the nation's major sources of professionally trained musicians. Through its constituent divisions, including the degreegranting Conservatory music school and the community-based Preparatory music and dance school, the institute trains musicians and dancers of every age and at every level-from children to adults, aspiring amateurs to seasoned professionals. The Peabody boasts a pre-eminent faculty, a nurturing, collaborative learning environment and the resources of Johns Hopkins University, of which Peabody is a part. Every year, the institute stages more than 800 musical and dance performances in Baltimore and other cities - a testament to its students' hard work and dedication.
