Why Keegan Likes His School So Much

"I like the atmosphere of being at a small school, everyone knows each other, and class size is great because you work closely with all your professors, and of course I like the sociology and criminal justice department here at McDaniel."

My favorite classes have been Criminology, Medical Sociology, Urban Sociology, Sociology of the Criminal Justice System.

"I'm not that much of a party kind of guy, but I like to be crazy every now and then."

When i'm not going to a bar or a party with friends I like going to sporting events, playing pick up games with friends, watching movies, playing guitar, and listening to music.

"I helped our Sociology Department, doing some student research regarding a Nationally Funded Grant Study on Criminal Justice topics"

While on campus I played baseball for two years until an arm injury caused me to stop, but this gave me the chance to do more
work on and off of campus like being a mentor for middle school children and working at our local city's police department.

"I've participated in Relay for Life and been to many events such as Hip Hop on the Hill, the Student Talent Show for Aids Research, as well as many others."

Why Keegan Likes Going to School in Baltimore

"...the idea of being close to a major city like Baltimore, as well as D.C., was also a big reason for my choice of school."

I was recruited to play baseball in college, but the idea of being close to a major city like Baltimore, as well as D.C., was also a big reason for my choice of school.

"Easy access to so much culture and events- concerts, art galleries, sporting events, museums, night life, etc."

That's why I love going to school near a big city.

"There is so much to see and do, it has its modern side and its historic side."

This range of activities is probably the thing I like most about Baltimore.

"...try different restaurants every time you go into the city"

My advice for students coming to Baltimore would be to drive downtown and walk around, talk to people, go to Fells Point, Canton, Little Italy, Federal Hill, Inner Harbor, try different restaurants every time you go into the city. Go to museums and art galleries.

"I like being in or at least with in driving distance of a big city."

Absolutely, I would recommend coming to school in Baltimore to a friend. I grew up in a city in Pennsylvania, and I like being in or at least with in driving distance of a big city.

"...there are some truly amazing people in this city."

I would say the most surprising thing about Baltimore is how friendly everyone is. Cities like Baltimore often receive a stigma of not being a friendly place, but there are some truly amazing people in this city.

"...seeing the city for the first time."

One of the best experiences I've ever had in Baltimore was the first time I was there, seeing the city for the first time.
