Why Di Likes Her School So Much.

"I improved with each assignment..."

The best class I've taken at Towson has been Photo Journalism. I got to learn how to take great pictures (a must for anyone going into media). The environment was safe and conductive to learning. Even though we did critiques for every assignment they were constructive and I improved with each assignment.

"I never miss a football game..."

Go to sporting events especially football. I never miss a football game because there are so many students and it's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. We start in the morning with tailgating and go out to a local bar after the game. It's an all day event.

"I love International students and hang out with them as much as possible.."

At Towson, I am very involved in campus life. I'm a student Ambassador (campus tour guide in the Undergraduate Marketing Dept), in Campus Crusade for Christ, Omicron Delta Kappa (National Leadership Society), International Ambassador (work with new international students in orientation and adjusting to America), I spent a semester in Australia in 2006. I love International students and hang out with them as much as possible. One night I had an International dinner where I invited like 15 people to come to my apt and bring dishes from their home countries. I think we had like 10 countries represented.

"It was a challenge for me..."

Though I haven't participated in many events at other schools but I did run in the Baltimore half-marathon in 2006. It was a challenge for me because I was not a runner before I started training, but I finished!

Why Di Likes Going To School In Baltimore.

"There's so much to do in Baltimore..."

I like being in Towson because it's close to Baltimore, but it's still a community. I actually did not want to go to school in the city because I wanted a main campus feel, so now I have a campus feel and I'm just down the road from all the action in the city. There's so much to do in Baltimore.

 "Baltimore is very diverse..."

You meet a lot of diverse people. My high school was not diverse at all so one of the things I looked for in a school was diversity. Baltimore is very diverse and I have friends from all over because I go to school in a city.

 "Baltimore has its own culture..."

Baltimore has two major sports teams which bring life and identity to the city. Were only an hour from the national capital and close enough to New York City to take a day trip. Baltimore has its own culture from the lights and water of the inner harbor to our love for crabs and seafood. Camden Yards is one of the most beautiful ballparks in America.

"Go to the Inner Harbor and get a crab cake"

My one piece of advice for students coming to Baltimore for the first time would be to go to the Inner Harbor and get a crab cake. You can really get a sense of Baltimore's culture just by walking around the harbor.

"It's a great place to get an internship"

I would definitely recommend coming to Baltimore for school.  Because it's a big city and the home to many large companies, it's a great place to get an internship, which is key to anyone looking for a job after graduation.

"It's safe and has the best seafood in America!"

People are surprised to lean that Baltimore is safe and has the best seafood in America! I think Baltimore has a bad rap because of the high crime rates but it's actually pretty safe if you know where to go. Like any city it has bad parts but I always feel safe there and I work in the city.

 "I love Baseball"

By far one of the best experiences I've had in Baltimore was when I got a job with the Baltimore Orioles as a productions assistant. I get to assist with per-game ceremonies and go on field every game. I assist with picking national anthem singers, color guards and other ceremonies. I love baseball and I would like to get into sports productions so it's a great way to get my foot in the door.
