Why Nabiha Likes Her School So Much
"UB allows me to make and spend time with friends."
Being with my friends is my favorite thing to do on campus and UB makes it easy to do just that. Our gym membership gives us free access to the racquetball courts, free weights, and cardio machines. Plus the gym has a sauna and studios for group fitness. Then there's the UB game room that has flat screen TV's, gaming systems, pool tables, air hockey, and even foosball tables. I go hear to hang out with other students before and after my classes. Plus, our location on North Charles Street gives us great access to a variety of restaurants. One restaurant that all the students seem to really enjoy is XS.
"I get to be involved in making UB great."
I served as the First year representative for the Undergraduate Student Senate which is a part of the Student Government Association. I work on campus at the Office of Technology Services, which is great because the work relates to my major of information systems and I get to practice working with computers and providing technological support to the entire campus. I also work at the Henry & Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Center for Student Involvement. This houses the student organizations, the campus leadership program, and coordinates major campus events.
Why Nabiha Likes Going to School in Baltimore
"UB was exactly what I was looking for right in my hometown."
I wanted to attend college in downtown New York or Florida. When I found out it wouldn't be possible for me to move far away, I decided to look around and realized that UB was exactly what I was looking for - right in my hometown!
"It's easy to get to so many events."
The best thing about going to school in a big city is that you have easy access to so many events. There's easy transportation options, a variety of restaurants, and you can even get discounts to certain events downtown. Baltimore has a wonderful night life and the security is great. Plus, there's a great variety of cultures represented.
"Once you get involved on campus there are so many opportunities to explore Baltimore."
Campuses in Baltimore are filled with events that give students a chance to have fun while being safe. But don't forget to visit the Harbor and Federal Hill. They are beautiful places to enjoy your time studying, hanging out with friends, or doing a host of other activities. You can also enjoy a great view of Baltimore city once you're on top of Federal Hill.
"...it was just a fun, adventurous day."
One of the best experiences I've had in Baltimore was the time my friends and I decided to take the subway to the Inner Harbor, but ended up getting off at the wrong stop. We had class in an hour, but we didn't have any cash so we couldn't take a cab or light rail back. We basically got lost and had to walk all the way back to the University. It was one of those experiences that makes you mad at the moment but once you look back, it was just a fun, adventurous day.
