Chamber Music on the Hill presents Liszt-Garrison International Competition WInners
Chamber Music on the Hill presents Viktor Valkov, piano and Lachezar Kostov, cello, prize-winning duo from the Liszt-Garrison International Competition.<br /><br /> Bulgarian pianist Viktor Valkov has performed as soloist, chamber musician and recitalist in Europe, the United States and Japan. He studied at The Juilliard School and is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree at Rice University, Houston. In 2009 he made his Carnegie Hall début with his long-time friend and chamber music collaborator Bulgarian cellist Lachezar Kostov, who has toured as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Japan, and Europe. Mr. Kostov is also a Doctor of Musical Arts student at Rice University.<br /><br /> Together, Mr. Kostov and Mr. Valkov won the First Prize in the Collaborative Artist category, and Best Interpretation Award for Outstanding Performance of Works by Franz Liszt in the 2011 Liszt-Garrison Festival and International Piano Competition. Held at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, the Liszt-Garrison Competition brings performance opportunities to exceptional musicians. Chamber Music on the Hill is honored to be part of the Liszt-Garrison family. <br /><br /> The program will include "3 Choral Preludes" composed by Bach and arranged by Kodaly, "Concerto a Due" (2012) by Robert Gross, "Phantasmagoria" by John Corigliano, "Carmen Fantasy" by Buxton Orr, "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2" by Franz Liszt and "Figaro" by M. Castelnuovo-Tedesco. <br /><br /> Tickets, which will be available at the door, are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and veterans. Children and students with valid ID admitted free.
