History

The Maryland Chapter of Young Audiences/Arts for Learning (YA) is a non-profit organization devoted to enriching the lives and education of Maryland’s youth, educators, and families through educational and culturally diverse arts programs. The nation’s premier arts-in-education organization, Young Audiences was founded in Baltimore in 1950. YA provides over 3,000 arts education programs for children throughout the state each year, generating opportunities for students to imagine, create and realize their full potential through the arts. Our programs enliven the standard curriculum, increase student interest in school, break down divisive cultural barriers, and expand the horizons of disadvantaged youth.
