Interns are provided ownership of projects within various corporate departments.
Describe the interns responsibilities.
When the internship program has been completed, you will have gained a basic understanding of the workings of a corporate legal department. You will develop an understanding of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, including word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology within a corporate legal department. You will also develop an understanding of how to write clear and precise sentences for correspondence in legal matters, and will develop the skills necessary for problem solving and decision-making. You will also learn how to manage objectives by learning how to manage your time in a legal setting. Responsibilities include: • Organizing and maintaining orderly and efficient hard-copy and electronic filing systems pertaining to a broad range of legal matters on which attorneys are working, including, without limitation, litigation, contracts, billing issues, legal research and opinions and other legal matters; • Assisting the paralegal and legal assistant with the timely execution of document production requests, routine letter and email correspondence relating to various legal and/or business matters; • Maintaining the confidentiality of all legal matters within the Legal Department; • Handling all other intern duties as assigned.
Describe the skill sets a successful candidate will have for this position.
• Must have completed at least one year of academic studies at an accredited college and currently be enrolled • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel • Prior experience working in an office setting • Sincere interest in working in a legal environment
