What is the Organization's purpose/product/service?

The Coalition manages local direct services programs that include housing interventions and is a leading provider of public policy and technical assistance services to government agencies, non-profits, and philanthropy. The Coalition leads the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI), in 17 sites across the nation, working in collaboration with local and federal agencies, and philanthropic partners to align, braid, and coordinate activities. Each site involves stakeholders from government, philanthropy, and service providers and conducts in-home interventions, resident education and worker training/certification. The Coalition provides technical support, tools, training, policy recommendations, and strategies in order to achieve innovations in government that reduce expenses and create wealth retention in communities.

Describe the interns responsibilities.

The Data and Evaluation Intern will assist GHHI’s Data and Evaluation Team with a variety of activities including, but not limited to: • Primary data collection through family visits to collect post-intervention data and consents. • Entry and analysis of utility data from flat file spreadsheets and use of a third party, web-based data system. • Access medical utilization and cost data from third party sources. • Entry and analysis of a variety of data (health, utility, costs, etc) into third-party, web-based data systems. • As needed, organize and integrate existing data files for importing into the system. • Stay informed on national research in areas of healthy housing, weatherization/energy efficiency, evaluation, neighborhood stabilization and cost benefit analysis. • Work with national staff to prepare GHHI client case studies.

Describe the skill sets a successful candidate will have for this position.

• Excellent computer skills and experience with a variety of programs such as all standard desktop software, Access, statistical software, as well as the aptitude to learn new programs quickly; • Experience with data entry and cleaning as well as manipulating and analyzing large datasets; • Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail; • Strong work ethic and communication skills; • Entrepreneurial, conscientious and self-motivated team player.
