Who We Are and What We Do A leading voice in the young adult cancer movement, we are working at a grassroots level to support, educate, connect and empower young adult cancer survivors. Since inception in 1997, we have been working tirelessly at both the community level and with our national partners to raise awareness of the young adult cancer issue and ensure all young adults and families impacted by cancer have a voice and the resources necessary to thrive. Our work over the years and to present day is guided by both our mission, vision and values and priorities and goals set forth within our strategic plan. {OUR MISSION} We enhance lives by supporting, educating and connecting young adults, and their loved ones, affected by cancer. {OUR VISION} We envision a world in which all young adults affected by cancer will have the access to resources necessary to thrive.
Describe the interns responsibilities.
PURPOSE: Working closely with the UCF leadership team and other staff members, gain an exposure and understanding of the basics of non-profit management, operations, marketing and fundraising. Support UCF leadership team on marketing and development efforts while also gaining exposure to the various programs our organization offers. Learn first hand the “ins and outs” of working at a non-profit organization by supporting existing UCF programs while also spearheading new projects. Be exposed to all of the following: event planning, branding, communication development, fundraising, GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Working on a diverse portfolio of projects, divide time and energy between both fundraising and program related initiatives that help further organization’s mission and growth. Specific responsibilities and projects will include: · Spearhead Summer Intern Community Service Project · Participate in Summer Intern Communications Project – to include social media and video · Support UCF Donor Recognition & Appreciation Program · Support UCF Team Fight and 4K for Cancer Programs · Corporate and Foundation Research · Grant Writing · Database management · Support UCF Expo participation · Resource coordination for newly diagnosed patients · Collateral development · Canvassing and street team development
Describe the skill sets a successful candidate will have for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: · Able to multi-task · Communication skills are critical · Able to work both independently and in group settings · Understanding of mission and programs of organization Enrollment in college or recent graduate, high school diploma required.
