What is the Organization's purpose/product/service?
The Mayor’s Correspondence Unit (CU) in the Mayor’s Office of Correspondence & Constituent Services is responsible for reading, processing, assigning, tracking, and closing out all of Mayor Sheila Dixon’s correspondence. The CU maintains a database and a City-wide contact list, and generates monthly reports on outstanding correspondence assignments. The CU also responds to requests for mayoral citations, proclamations, certificates of recognition, and other ceremonial items.
Describe the interns responsibilities.
•Data entry •Write mayoral proclamations, citations, and other ceremonial items •Write letters to constituents for the mayor’s signature •Take constituent calls regarding correspondence
Describe the skill sets a successful candidate will have for this position.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills (interview process involves grammar test) •Ability to adhere to deadlines and handle last minute requests •Experience with the Microsoft Office suite •Customer service telephone skills •Must be committed to schedule; attendance will impact intern’s evaluation •Recent graduate or enrolled student (junior or senior)
