ATTRACTIONS
HONFEST
HonFest is a Baltimore tradition. An annual celebration in honor of the historic working-women of Baltimore who welcomed neighbors and visitors with open arms and gave everyone the name “Hon”, this Festival is a nationally recognized (and according to honfest.net an ever-growing international curiosity) festival that provides a look into Baltimore’s quirky character.
This weekend long extravaganza takes over four city-blocks, including Hampden’s super popular 36th Street (The Avenue), and includes a variety of events designed to bring out the Hon in everyone. A Festival Highlight is the competition to be Baltimore’s Best Hon, where local women embody their sixties-era counterparts, put on their best beehive hairdo and strut their stuff in a one-of-a-kind beauty pageant you can only find here in Baltimore. Plus, you can get your own beehive, hear some great live music from local bands, and enjoy the quirky shopping of Hampden as local storeowners bring their shops to the sidewalks.
HonFest is a weekend full of fun and character and is a hotspot for anyone looking to enjoy some classic Baltimore entertainment.
