THE BALTIMORE BASILICA
Designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe (who also designed the U.S. Capitol building), the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (say that three times fast) was the country's first metropolitan cathedral. Guided tours are offered on Sundays.
