FRANK & NIC'S WEST END GRILLE
Located in the base of the new luxury Zenith apartments downtown, you might expect a fully upscale, very expensive, swanky steakhouse. Once inside, where you see tables lined up cafeteria-style, laminated menus, and huge flat screen tvs, you might think your getting treated to nothing more than high-end bar food. Both accounts, however, are wrong - as Frank & Nic's provides the best of both of these worlds.
The atmosphere is casual yet classy, and the restaurant's swanky feel truly comes to life once the sun goes down. But the food is nothing like bar food. With great Asian appetizers sharing the same menu as sliders and calamari, and their entrees include unique fish selections like opa (a Hawaiin fish) and mussels. They are known, however, for their steaks - which while as delicious as some pricier restaurants downtown, are not as hard on your wallet. You can even spice up your steak with your own choice of complementing sauce. Another thing that separates Franks & Nic's from the other steakhouses in the area is that each entree comes with a side. From mac and cheese, to green beans, to potatoes a'gratin, you are truly treated to a hearty meal well worth the price. If you can handle it (as entree sizes are large) stick around for some crazy dessert concoctions including their signature West End Sundae - it centers around a deep-fried Snickers bar - need we say more?
The location makes it a great spot to hit up before or after a big game at The O's, and their crowds (which can get dense at Happy Hour times) are usually full of college students.
