SAMOS

A casual luncheonette in Greektown, Samos has been a Baltimore institution for years. The way its food tastes, there's little wonder why. From appetizer dishes (dolmathes, melitzanosalata) to the main courses (souvlaki, shrimp and feta pie, individual pizzas) to the sides (try the calamari), everything explodes with flavor. And the prices -- and super-friendly service -- cannot be beat.

Samos is a Baltimore institution for mediocre American food. It has some of the least authentic Greek food I've ever had, and it wasn't even good at that. When I went, some of the food was only partially cooked, and most of it was bland. We had to wait outside in line for a table, get cash from there ATM since that's the only way you can pay, and the service wasn't great. I'd recommend ANY of the other restaurants in Greektown over Samos.
