BURRITOS EN FUEGO

We scoffed at the cutesy name, which, roughly translated, means “overstuffed gutbombs on fire.” We skipped over the “fuego” salsa and went straight for the “diablo.” And then we prayed to die. Burritos En Fuego turns out to be an object lesson in truth-in-advertising: a Mexican take-out whose plentiful burritos, tacos, and pizzas, at their hottest and best, live up to the promise implicit in the establishment's name by acting more-or-less like a flamethrower applied directly to your entire digestive system. We would love this place just a little bit more if they extended their business hours to include the wee ones after the many bars in the area close, when such unsubtle seasoning techniques are about the only ones we can truly appreciate, but we have no shortage of affection for the sweet pain that Burritos En Fuego delivers every time we visit.
