EATS
FAMOUS YAKITORI ONE
This Japanese restaurant is more than just its namesake, but if you come here for any reason, you have to try their yakitori. The grilled and skewered appetizers, are way more than just chicken here, and you can combine them to make a quick appetizer, or a filling meal. They can be ordered a la carte (for as little as $1) or in the combination versions the restaurant has put together for you, which include all vegetarian options, a seafood option, or even a meat and seafood combo.
Though you wouldn't have to, you might want to enjoy the other parts of the menu too. The rest of Famous' menu is equally impressive. They feature appetizers like pork and shrimp dumplings, and rice balls, and entrees like meals-in-a-bowl, and stews like tempura udon and oden. Another surprising selection is their boxed dinners, which are a bargain by including an entree meat with two side dishes like salad and soup.
The atmosphere here is youthful, with alternative music playing and a laid-back attitude from the servers. There are two parts of the restaurant - a front room which features counter-seating next to the yakitori grill, and a larger side-room with more decorations that allows for a more structured dining experience.
This restaurant has a great price point for students and its location in Lower Charles Village makes it an easy place for students to grab a bit to eat.
