OWINGS MILLS
Among the major corporations that have put down roots in the area are heavy hitters like T. Rowe Price, Maryland Public Television, and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. But by far the heaviest hitters in town are the Baltimore Ravens, whose Owings Mills headquarters and training facilities are a point of considerable local pride.
Owings Mills is still developing, and plans to establish a central area for shopping and recreation are still in the works. In the meantime, Owings Mills Mall is the de facto town center. Around it sit many of the area's best bets for dining, including chains like Tony Roma's, Hops, and Red Robin alongside the homegrown Captain Harvey's, and Linwood's. There's also a 17-screen General Cinemas theatre close by. For those looking to get out for some exercise and fresh air, the Soldier's Delight Natural Environmental Area offers 2,000 acres of serpentine grasslands and hiking trails.
It's easy to get into the city and back from Owings Mills. If you have a car, the Northwest Expressway (Route 795) provides a straight shot to the Baltimore Beltway. If not, all you have to do is hop on the light rail at the station just across the street from the mall.
