FLETCHER'S

Fletcher's has had its ups and downs over the years. It started out strong as the rock club to beat in Baltimore, featuring local heroes alongside small to mid-sized national acts like Guided By Voices, the Supersuckers, and the Melvins. When the new Ottobar opened, it went through some doldrums, but picked back up again with a strong lineup that broke the Ottobar's self-consciously too-cool-for-school mold. Then recently the owner painted the inside silver, lined it with mirrors, and started essentially charging locals to play there. Still, the calendar has its occasional bright spots, and as long as you don't mind your rock club looking like a cheesy disco, it's still a decent place to check out a show. Age restrictions vary, so be sure to check the website or call ahead before you make the trip.
