THE ARTS
CHARLES THEATRE
Since it opened in 1929 (then called the Times Theatre), the Charles has been THE place to catch a flick in town. Giving space first to independent and foreign releases and next to bigger budget pictures, it's also one of the only places in the area to see some of the more obscure offerings current cinema has to offer. The Charles's Cinema Sundays program often allows film fans to see upcoming films before their official release, and includes bagels, coffee, a guest speaker (sometimes the director of the film to be screened), and a post-film discussion session.
